The Machinist Making Time eBook Alexander Maisey Doug Glassford
The first The Machinist book by Maisey was sensational and left me frustrated waiting for more. Same thing happened this time around.Making Time is a short story -- I read it in less than ten minutes -- based on a cool supervillain secret origin. The villain has a gadget with a thought-provoking power that has all sorts of possibilities for future plotlines.
Maisey's world and his approach to supervillains remind me of the some the best idea work done by Kurt Busiek for Astro City.
Maisey needs to write some full-length novels. They would be un-put-downable. His content ends too quickly. This character and his device could be the starting point for several hundred pages.
Disclosure: I know Alexander Maisey and have interviewed him on my website.

The Machinist Making Time eBook Alexander Maisey Doug Glassford Reviews
Maisey is building a larger world with every installment of The Machinest, and I am a fan. I enjoyed Making Time greatly as a short, satisfying glimpse into the life of an older super villain. Short stories are sometimes harder to write than full-length novels, given that you don't have time to stretch out and relax. It all has to be done in short, fiery bursts, without sacrificing characterization, and Maisey accomplishes that here. I'm looking forward to The Machinist 2, and found Making Time to be a nice appetizer of what's to come.
They should have added this as filler to the back of one of the real books, not charged extra for it. It's a couple of pages long and reads like the initial outline of a story idea. It's certainly not worth paying for.
A nice single serving story that helps fill in a greater world. I wish to pester the author into finishing Machinist Part Two.
I can't in clear conscience give this more than two stars because of it's shortness. I very much liked the first Machinist story (also on the short side but a satisfying read).
This effort is less than short-story sized; the term "novella" is a massive misnomer. Great concept, but not even close to fleshed-out.
Its a quick read, makes me wish the next book in the Machinist was ready to read. Great characters, can't come soon enough.
while easy to understand it is not terrible entertaining or exciting to read. I excepted a little more action from a super power book
The first Machinist book was my first book. And I enjoyed the book immensely.
The villain/antihero angle was done quite well.
From what I've seen Making Time, Mr. Maisey is pretty certain to get an additional sale out of me.
